Opening of the 11th APCMC Under the patronage of the Prime Minister

On behalf of Prime Minister, the 11th APCMC, was inaugurated by  Eng. Khaled Al-Hunaifat, Minister of Agriculture in the presence of HRH Princess Basma Bint Ali,  under “Partnerships between Governments and Cooperatives for Resilience, Cooperative Flexibility, Sustainable Development and Inclusive Growth in Asia, the Pacific, the Middle East and North Africa”, with broad participation from Asian and Arab, the Pacific region and North Africa counries, international organizations and global cooperative movements held in the Dead Sea region on Sunday and Monday (28-29/4/2024 ). In his speech, JCC Chair said that the aim of the conference, which is held every four years and is being held for the first time in the Middle East region since (34) years since its inception in 1990, is to strengthen partnerships between governments and cooperatives at all levels, economic, social, cultural and environmental, and to emphasize the importance of strengthening the cooperative identity in societies.

The head of the International Cooperative Alliance, Dr. Ariel Guarco, congratulated HM King Abdullah II on the occasion of the silver jubilee of assuming his constitutional powers, considering that Jordan has always been an oasis of stability in the region. He said that the conference, which is held every four years, is a platform for cooperatives and governments to engage in meaningful dialogue on current and emerging issues and an international forum to set a common agenda for action with the aim of creating the best forms of cooperation between governments and cooperatives. The cooperation between governments and cooperatives is of primary importance to release the full potential and partnership between government entities and cooperatives to enhance the supportive cooperative environment, establish a clear legal framework, and develop government policies and legislation that recognize the value and importance of cooperatives as a vital component of the economy and society by working together and building a strong partnership, said Shalabi.

Chandrel Yadav, Chairman of the ICA for the Asia-Pacific region, congratulated Jordan on the occasion of the silver jubilee, saying: “During these years, Jordan has witnessed great development in various fields and distinguished success in maintaining its security and stability despite the surrounding regional circumstances and stressed that cooperatives are, in fact, institutions that work to change people's lives and provide fair opportunities for progress and prosperity in the society in which they exist, but they cannot express their full potential unless they have the appropriate regulatory frameworks and public policies Countries participating were  Jordan, Egypt, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, Palestine, Libya, Syria, Morocco, Australia, China, Fiji, India, Iran, Japan, Kenya, South Korea, Malaysia, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Turkey, Thailand, Vietnam, Netherlands, Argentina, in addition to the United States of America.
